Many studies have been conducted on the cervix cancer and it has been found that it mainly occurs in those women who suffer from diseases like genial warts which are transmitted during sexual intercourse.

Women who started engaging in sexual activities early in life, and have multiple sexual partners, who use oral contraceptives and also those who smoke, are more prone to this disease. The pelvic examination and cervical smear test are the two screening examinations available for women to detect gynecological cancer or symptoms relating to it. Cervical cancer, if detected early, can easily be cured without hampering the women’s fertility.

However, if any inflammation is observed in the cervix, an instrument called colposcope is used by the doctors. It is used by the doctors while undertaking a colposcopy test. Colposcope is a lens placed inside the patient’s vagina that enable doctors to magnify the cervix, vagina and external genial area. It provides magnification aids which helps in observing the problematic areas effectively. This magnification contributes in conducting the biopsies.
